About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The UFC's upcoming trip to Sydney, Australia, will feature a home country talent in a big lightweight matchup.
Quillan Salkilld will meet Benoit Saint Denis in the main event of a UFC Fight Night Event on Feb. 6. The event takes place at Afterpay Arena in Sydney ( Paramount+ ). The promotion officially announced the matchup Tuesday evening.
In his first main event opportunity, Salkilld (13-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) will look to continue his unbeaten run in the UFC. Currently riding a 13-fight winning streak with four consecutive first-round finishes, the Australian bonus machine finds himself in another intriguing matchup in the upper rankings of the lightweight division. Salkilld racked up three wins in 2026, stopping Jamie Mullarkey, Beneil Dariush, and Mateusz Gamrot, all in the opening frame. The 26-year-old has earned bonuses in five out of his six UFC bouts.
In the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie lightweight rankings, Saint Denis and Salkilld are nestled next to each other at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
In his second main event spot, Saint Denis (17-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) will aim to bounce back from a first-round submission loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 329. That result snapped a four-fight, all-stoppage winning streak. The Frenchman finished Kyle Prepolec, Mauricio Ruffy, Dairush, and Dan Hooker no later than the second round. "God of War" is no stranger to bonuses himself, having also earned an extra check in six UFC fights.
At the time of writing, no other matchups have been confirmed for the UFC Fight Night event on Feb. 6.
